The Director of Immigration Programs will lead a faith-based network of Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representatives consisting of churches, nonprofits, and local World Relief offices providing immigration legal services. This position is responsible for casting vision and building capacity for the Immigration Programs Service Line, within the scope of World Relief’s US Programs. This will be primarily accomplished by setting best practice standards of service across the network, equipping field and affiliate staff with resources and training, and supporting the SED team and local offices with programmatic insight for donor, foundation, corporate, and public fundraising efforts.

- Leadership of the Immigration Programs Service Line
- Cast vision and sets strategy for network wide immigration legal services programming, in consultation with local program experts
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Immigration Programs team, field offices, and church partner programs
- Manage the Immigration Programs team at the Home Office (HO); lead HO and field immigration legal services teams in effectively implementing program goals and objectives, as well as sharing best practices
- Develop a sense of teamwork among program leaders; promote a culture that ensures high levels of communication and collaboration between the home and field offices
- Participate on the U.S. Leadership team, integrating strategic direction, support, and development to all field offices in relation to Immigration Programs
Support to Local Offices
- Provide high-touch support (regular visits, calls, etc.) to local offices and the affiliate network as they implement programming, both building on areas of strength and shoring up areas of weakness
- Lead the Community of Practice for Immigration program offices and affiliate partners to facilitate the sharing of ideas and knowledge across the network, through online platforms, calls, emails, or newsletters
Partnership and Funding Development - Provide programmatic insight and support for World Relief’s portfolio of donor, foundation, or corporate relationships with the potential to financially support network-wide immigration programs
- Work closely with World Relief’s development team in developing proposals and making asks to potential donors, foundations, or corporations as they relate to immigration legal services
- Develop baseline budgets, program overviews, and pitch documents to equip the development team to chase after funding quickly, excellently, and with accurate information from field offices
- Initiate, consult with, and provide technical expertise in network-wide public funding opportunities relating to immigration legal services
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with issues surrounding the foreign-born in the US and desire to serve the foreign-born and the Church
- Experience in nonprofit management and development of new programs preferred
- Comfortable working with churches and denominations
- Ability to think strategically and develop a plan for technical unit and capacity building
- Proven oral and written communication skills and mentoring skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Commitment and ability to work in a team-based environment while being able to work independently
- Ability to effectively and professionally work with individuals from many different backgrounds
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and confidentiality
- Ability to collaborate with our fund-raising team to attract new sources of support
- Experience in grant writing preferred
- Cross-cultural experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- J.D. from U.S. Law School
- Admission to a U.S. State Bar
- 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law
- Strong Computer Skills
- Ability to travel domestically up to 30%

- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information
- The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Â
- General office setting
- Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in skype meetings may be required
- Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending
- Physical, emotional and intellectual demands
- Equipment used: Employee computer (desktop or laptop), printer, and copier
