LegacyWise Fellows Program

Company:

LegacyWise

Location:

Concord, NH

Salary Information:

$45,000 stipend

Description:

LegacyWise Fellows Program – Class entering in 2023

The LegacyWise® Fellow’s Program (LFP) supports the mission of LegacyWise® (LW)1 by capturing the talents of emergent professionals for program development and workshop delivery. Fellows assist in fulfilling the greater mission of LW by planning for and facilitating estate document preparation workshops for low- and middle-income families, communicating with companies, churches, and individuals within the community, crafting new marketing strategies, and building community with the other Fellows. LFP includes a robust mentoring experience for recent law graduates or those transitioning from temporary employment positions (such as a clerkship), and flexible time to pursue career concept formation, bar examination preparation, and other licensing or pro bono activities. Ideally, LW Fellows will enter their profession with added strength & clarity and benefit from lifelong friendships formed during the LFP experience.

LW Fellows’ Faith Community:

LFP seeks to build a robust Christian community which affords fellowship and mutual accountability. It operates within the broad parameters of the LW Community Life Statement. To that end, Fellows are expected together to maintain at least weekly common devotional/accountability sessions and, each one, individually, to be active in a local church of his or her choosing.

Position Terms:

1. Status: This is a part-time employment-at-will position under New Hampshire law, terminable at any time by either LW or the Fellow.

2. Cash stipend: $45,000 annually.
3. Expected work hours: Average 30-35 weekly. (LW anticipates its Fellows will also be involved in other professional and charitable activities. With that in mind, the actual work hours are expected to be relatively light right after graduation when intensive bar exam preparation may occur and heavier around LW events).
4. Duration: Two years. The normal expectation will be for the Fellow to remain with LW for at least 12 months, but the Fellow may leave at any time. Ideally, the Fellow will remain for the full 24-month period.
5. Residence: An in-person residential experience is an integral part of LFP. Accordingly, Fellows live at 135 North State Street (the former Governor Rollins mansion in Concord, NH). That mansion has been renovated to include fully-furnished, individually-lockable bedroom units. Part of the Fellows’ commitments will be to maintain an active community life with one another. (Fellows will have no out-of-pocket costs for their residential space).
6. Duties: Fellows will provide a wide range of LW support including assisting LW users with registering for LW workshops, facilitating workshops, and follow-up schedule coordination with attorneys or others who will be donating services for document execution. Fellows assist with LW document set maintenance, legal research related to state law variations, and similar matters. In the spirit of servant leadership, Fellows also provide logistical support, including reception coverage, security, meeting coordination & scheduling, meeting room setup/clean-up, facilities users help support, meal preparation & cleanup, and so on for both 135 NSS and 125 NSS facilities and events which are held at either location.
7. Benefits: a. Vacation/Leave: Fellows accrue two weeks paid vacation each year. Additionally, generous scheduling flexibility is allowed, but must be coordinated among the Fellows to assure coverage during each other’s absences, and so on.
b. Christian Legal Society: Membership and national conference expenses are paid by LW. Fellows join other LW staff as volunteer assistants to CLS staff for the annual CLS national conference work.
