“Lawyer Saints Through the Ages”

The saints of the Orthodox Church are exemplars for the Christian life and illuminate the many pathways to Christ.  Particularly relevant for modern attorneys are the saints of our Church who have served as lawyers in their own contexts.  This presentation will survey the lives of lawyer saints and how we may approach our work guided by their example.

Presenters

Joan T. Berg is a partner with Schoenberg, Finkel, Newman & Rosenberg LLC in Chicago, Illinois. Joan’s primary areas of practice include commercial real estate, lending, and corporate transactions. Her pro bono and volunteer time are filled as co-legal advisor to the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago. She continues to advise the Orthodox Christian Education Commission on specified matters, and is a past board member of the Chicago Metropolis’ St. Iakovos Retreat Center.  Joan is active with her parish, Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church.

Nicole Petrow is a tax attorney in Omaha, Nebraska.  Her practice focuses on business formation and planning, estate and gift tax planning, trust administration, and tax exempt organizations. Outside of the office, Nicole serves on her church’s parish council, which is in the early stages of construction to build a new temple in Omaha. Nicole also enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

OCAN welcomes you to its monthly Women’s Virtual Coffee Hour, usually on the second Friday of each month at 12:00pm ET / 9:00am PT.  We look forward to having you join us for this time of fellowship with other Orthodox Christian attorneys from around the country.  Feel free to invite others who might be interested!
